The majority of the work requested by our clients has centered on inner city and brown field development. This has formulated MGL’s experience on residential, commercial and mixed use development. Along with these building types, MGL has experience in student accommodation, nursing homes and hotel design and development.
The Chartered Architectural Practice, MGL, was founded in 1978 by Michael Ginn RIBA, who remains within the company as one of the principle directors. The original company started as a practitioner, developed into a partnership and then became a Limited company in 2003. Today the responsibility of running the office is split between Michael Ginn and his son Joel.
The practice has always resided and operated within East London, which has offered significant development potential during the companies lifetime.
The practice has also has considerable experience beyond the east end, with developments throughout Greater London and the home counties, as well as projects in Manchester, Liverpool and France.
The majority of the work has been inner city redevelopment or brownfield development, which has mainly comprised
if residential, commercial and mixed used projects. These projects have been equally split between new build development and refurbishment / conservation development.
The new build work has varied in size from bespoke purpose built and designed houses for owner occupiers, to large scale developments in excess for 250 flats. Whilst the refurbishment / conservation work has ranged from Grade 2 star listing to renovating and converting 1960’s office buildings into new residential or mixed use developments.
MGL have established a large network of specialist and consultants, all with experience within the building industry. MGL are happy to advise our clients on the appointment of these consultants in order to achieve the best results.
